Usually I don’t do single reviews but I make exceptions for old comrades. Hey, if you were there for me in the start of this whole blog – I’ll never forget your wonder. So today some of my favorite youngsters from this St. Paul, Electric Anthem, are even more grown up than the last time I heard from them and their album Knock Out. They shocked me with their maturity last time, so it was expected and received this time around with their single “The Breakdown.”
It starts off slow, tricking you into thinking it’s going to be a pop rock ballad but then manages to pick up not too long after to give you a jolt of energy. “The Breakdown” falls somewhere between the fine lines of We Are The In Crowd’s pop and All Time Low’s rock. Technically the song shows Electric Anthem’s growth as artists as they’re playing with setup and delivery – and pulling it off well. The album this eventually winds up on will be another one to look forward to.
If I saw Electric Anthem in a teeny bopper I wouldn’t be surprised because while they’re not as young as they once were, they’re not this overbearing rock band who’d scare parents. “The Breakdown” wouldn’t offend anyone, it’s clean cut rock with a hint of lovely pop. It’s available for FREE right now and you can look forward to that album sometime this Spring or Summer…Hopefully Spring, right?
